Cute & Cuddly

Before I share my layout based on the 6/6/13 Sketch Thursday challenge at Elle's Studio, I have a weird question.  Do you ever feel like you have Scrapbook schizophrenia?  I do...all the time.  For example, the layout I am sharing today, came together so easily.  The photo worked, the papers worked, the embellishments worked, and the design based on the sketch worked.  I finished this layout in a little over an hour and I didn't spend hours after that looking at it thinking...."hmmm, maybe I need to add something else".  Then, there are "those" other layouts that make me - for lack of better words - want to jab a pencil in my eye!!  What is wrong with those pages?  Why won't they play nicely and do what we want them to do?  I think I am finally discovering, that it is a combination of the things I mentioned for creating today's page.  Finding the right mix for your creativity - photos that work, papers that work, embellishments that work, designs that work, and a creative mood.  I think my least successful pages occur, when I try to force something that doesn't fit in with this combination.  My initial reaction is to find a paper shredder and put that puppy in there ASAP, but then I have that little crafty fairy who tells me, it doesn't have to be perfect and it's another memory recorded on a page.  I feel like I have been back and forth a lot lately with pages I love and pages I don't love so much.  And I have one coming up for Get It Scrapped! in July, that is the thing of my scrappy nightmares, but the awesome Ladies at GIS encouraged me to use it for my assignment anyway.  It's a process, and I just wanted to share with fellow crafters, who I know will understand all of the mixed feelings that come with our passion for this hobby.

And since I do love this page, let's get to the reveal!

I almost didn't attempt this Sketch, because I was a little intimidated by the design.  But I finally decided, that I wanted to give it a try and told myself, that the Sketch is just a starting point and I could take it wherever I wanted.  I based my page design on the space to the top and left of the Sketch and then moved the title area down to where the frame is placed on the Sketch.  It kind of turned into a new Sketch in my head, based on this Sketch.  And since I love the new Cameron and Saltwater collections so much, I decided to combine the two of them on this layout.

Thanks for stopping in today, and I always love reading the sweet comments all of you leave on my posts!!

I just had one of those "jab your eye with a pencil" layouts this week! The picture literally sat on top of the paper on my desk for 3 DAYS. It just would NOT come together for me. And it was an important one because it was for a design team call! Ack! I am the "go back and check to make sure it is complete" kind of person. Drives my husband insane. He will say, "it is FINE! Leave it alone!" ha! But finally, the layout came together for me. Your layout is gorgeous as always. I love the simplicity of this one. Your talent is breathtaking!

Your layouts are always beautiful. ?.and you always choose the perfect embellishments. I love that bullseye cut behind the photo.

Super fun page! Love the little bits you always add...like the washi!

P/s: I would say walk away from that layout and work on another...that's what I do. It helps you see the layout with "fresh" eyes later. But of course, do more pages when the inspiration strikes! At the end of the day, your kids are going to remember that mom documented a cherished event and not what was mom thinking when she placed a button right here? lol

Ashely, I've been going through the exact same thing this week. Finished a layout, and thought, "this isn't me at all". Started over, didn't like where the second one was going any better than the first, so decided to keep the first layout. I think now I'll just move forward....BTW, I think your page is adorable!

I love your layout! I also love that sketch and just used it the other night - mine will be posted on Saturday!

We all have those moments, but like you said, we have to remember why we are scrapping - to document the memories - not 'win a contest' on best page.

I love when pages come together quickly and you don't over think things. I wish that happened more than it does! :) Your page is adorable and I love all the little elements that draw your eye to the picture.

So darn cute! It's looks fabulous! I can relate with the bipolar, (that's what I call it), feelings about our layouts! Some come naturally, and some are a struggle.

Another adorable layout...love it when everything just comes together! I also have times when a layout just isn't working, it helps if I walk away, or work on another layout! Like you said, we need to remember why we are scrapping! Maybe I should add a little sticky note somewhere on my desk as a reminder!

Oh, I hear you, hun. I just finished a page that literally took me three days and over six hours. I'm exhausted! It turned out okay, but I still keep tweeking it. The real test will be how it photographs. So, hang in there, and TFS!

Your page today is darling! Really love the yellow and blue and that circular die cut!

Love it, you are such a fun writer too missy. I think we all have those days where we create something that doesn't look anything like we normally create. It's frustrating, but it keeps us humble right?! A huge thank you too for stopping by Life.Paper.Scrapbook today, it means a lot that you would take a moment to do so for me :)
